v4.0.1 released Oct 1, 2026
A real FAQ system, not a sidebar widget.
Questions are a first-class content type with their own URLs, categories and a dedicated FAQ page. Native Gutenberg blocks when you want to embed Q&A inline or list questions as an accordion. Semantic HTML throughout.

Google retired FAQ rich snippets in May 2026, so the value here is FAQ content management, not search snippets. Priced accordingly: it is free, and always was.

What Signocore FAQ does.
Signocore FAQ treats every question as a first-class custom post type, with its own URL, admin list and edit screen. Questions group into categories, and category-aware URLs, on by default, give you a real structure to link into: /faq/billing/can-i-pay-monthly rather than a heading buried halfway down a page.

Gutenberg blocks
Two native Gutenberg blocks cover the rest. FAQ Element embeds a single question and answer inline; FAQ List renders an accordion or link list, filtered by category or hand-picked, with a direct link to every answer. A [signocore_faq] shortcode covers page builders without block support, and a WooCommerce tab puts product questions where buyers look for them.
About rich snippets
A note on expectations: Google retired FAQ rich snippets in May 2026. The value here is FAQ content management, semantic markup and internal linking, not search snippets. It is free forever, and it surfaces related terms automatically when Signocore Glossary is active alongside it.
Three ways to work with it.
Manage questions like any other content type, render them on a dedicated FAQ page, or embed them inline using the Gutenberg blocks.
Free. No catch.
Works on its own, or alongside Signocore Glossary for related-term cross-linking.

A complete FAQ system.
Questions as content
Each question is a first-class custom post type with its own URL, admin list, and edit screen. Manage hundreds of FAQs without losing your mind.
Categories and navigation
Group questions into categories. Category-aware URLs, on by default (/faq/billing/can-i-pay-monthly), for cleaner structure and easier discovery.
Designated FAQ page
Pick any page as your FAQ index. The plugin aggregates questions automatically, organised by category, as a column list or an accordion with a direct link to every answer.
Gutenberg blocks
FAQ Element embeds a single Q&A inline; FAQ List shows questions as an accordion or link list, filtered by category or hand-picked, sorted by title or newest first. A [signocore_faq] shortcode covers builders without block support.
WooCommerce product FAQ
Adds a FAQ tab to product pages. Hand-pick questions per product, or let matching tags fill the tab automatically.
Sidebar widget
Bundled Recent FAQs widget. Drop it into any sidebar from WordPress widget settings, configure how many questions to show.
Pairs with Glossary
Surfaces related Glossary terms automatically when both Signocore FAQ and Signocore Glossary are active.
Related questions
Questions that share tags show on each question page, below blog posts if you switch it on, and on tag archives without posts. More internal links, no extra work.
Link straight to an answer
Every accordion answer has its own readable address. A link to it opens that answer and scrolls to it, so a support reply can point to the exact answer.

Common questions about Signocore FAQ.
How do I organise questions into categories?
Each question can be assigned to one or more FAQ categories (a dedicated taxonomy). Category navigation is on by default, so questions get clean URLs like /faq/billing/can-i-pay-monthly, nested under your FAQ page's slug. Switch it off in settings and they live at /faq/can-i-pay-monthly. Either way, the dedicated FAQ page groups questions by category automatically.
Does Signocore FAQ output FAQPage schema for Google rich snippets?
No. Google retired FAQ rich snippets from search results in May 2026, so the plugin focuses on what still matters: a clean, accessible FAQ system that loads fast and reads well. If you run Signocore SEO Pro, it generates the FAQ schema and the FAQ Element block carries matching anchors, so every schema question points at a real element on the page.
Does Signocore FAQ work with my theme?
Yes. The frontend output uses semantic HTML and inherits your theme typography. The default styling is minimal (spacing, list and accordion chrome), so the FAQ index and individual question pages adopt whatever your theme defines for headings and body text. It can be turned off entirely in settings if you want full theme control.
Can I use it without an SEO plugin?
Yes. The plugin is fully self-contained, with no SEO plugin needed and no extra dependencies. Add questions in WP admin, drop a Gutenberg block into any post, or use the [signocore_faq] shortcode in builders without block support.
Can I show FAQs on WooCommerce product pages?
Yes. With WooCommerce active, products get a FAQ tab. Hand-pick the questions for each product on the product edit screen, or leave it empty and questions whose tags match the product tags fill the tab automatically. The tab can be switched off in settings.
Does it pair with the Glossary plugin?
Yes. If both Signocore FAQ and Signocore Glossary are active, related glossary terms can be surfaced alongside FAQ entries automatically. Both plugins work fine on their own as well.
Is it really free, with no upsell tier?
Yes. No Pro tier, no plan to add one. Free WordPress plugin with no upsell, no tracking, no account required.
What's new in the latest release.
v4.0.1 · Last updated Oct 1, 2026 · Tested up to WordPress 7.1.2 · Requires PHP 8.1+
Changes in version 4.0.1:
- Fixed: Signocore FAQ now updates itself when automatic updates are turned on, so new versions are installed without you having to click Update.
- Fixed: The "Enable auto-updates" link for Signocore FAQ now shows on the Plugins screen, even when no update is waiting.
Version 4.0.0:
- Added: Related questions, matched by the post's tags, can appear below your blog posts, so readers find more answers without leaving the article. Turn it on under Related Content.
- Added: Tag archives with no posts can show related questions instead of an empty page, on Kadence, Signocore Slate and block themes.
- Added: Every FAQ category heading shows how many questions it holds.
- Added: A Documentation link on the Plugins screen that opens the online guides.
- Improved: Signocore FAQ now requires PHP 8.1 and WordPress 6.9 or newer. Sites that do not meet this are not offered the update and keep working on their current version.
- Improved: Below PHP 8.2, a notice tells you in good time that the next major version, planned for February 1, 2027, will need PHP 8.2.
- Improved: A new admin design in the style of the other Signocore plugins: settings sit in clear cards, the FAQ page layout is chosen from visual previews, and the WooCommerce product FAQ box and notices share one look.
- Improved: The FAQ design on your site has been refreshed. It follows your theme's typography and colors on both light and dark themes, and a theme can set its own accent color for links.
- Improved: FAQ lists adapt to narrow areas, and the accordion places a category beside its questions when there is room for it.
- Improved: The FAQ Element block keeps question and answer clearly apart while you write, and the FAQ List block shows a clearer message when no questions match your selection.
- Improved: The Recent FAQs widget matches the rest of the FAQ styling.
- Improved: The page picker in the settings ships with the plugin, so the admin loads nothing from outside services.
- Improved: Your settings are checked when you save them, so a value that is out of range is corrected instead of stored.
- Improved: With Signocore Glossary, related terms below your questions include terms that have not been viewed yet.
- Improved: Updated Danish translation.
- Fixed: The FAQ page updates right away when you add or edit a question or a category.
- Fixed: FAQ links keep working after you change the FAQ page or turn category navigation on or off, with no need to resave your permalinks.
- Fixed: Related questions and related terms appear below your questions again on sites that also use Signocore Toolkit.
- Fixed: New versions now show up in automatic and scheduled update checks, not only when you open the admin.
- Fixed: With Signocore SEO, links to a single question land on the right question, also when the post has FAQ elements inside a group or columns.
- Fixed: Links to a question in an FAQ accordion open the right answer every time, also on sites running Signocore SEO.
- Fixed: Links to a question in a product's FAQ tab open the tab and show the answer, instead of landing on the product description.
- Fixed: Questions saved in the block editor get the default FAQ category.
- Fixed: Questions without a category get a working address when category navigation is on.
- Fixed: Password-protected questions no longer appear in the FAQ page list, and categories with no questions left to show are hidden.
- Fixed: The question screens say Question where they used to say Post.
- Fixed: Signocore FAQ's admin styling loads only on its own screens, so the rest of your dashboard is left untouched.
- Security: Question titles in related content headings are made safe before they are shown, and the Recent FAQs widget settings are cleaned when saved.
